Remembering Grandaddy

On Sunday morning, Heaven gained another angel and we lost a very loved man here on Earth. Grandaddy passed away. We knew this was coming but it does not make the hurt any less painful. We take peace in knowing that he truly is in a better place and he is no longer in any type of pain and he is free of illness. I look forward to the day when I will see him again! Grandaddy was such a sweet, wonderful person. He always made me feel like a part of the family since the first day I met him. I am grateful for the 12 plus years he was in my life. He was very much like my own grandfather. I am thankful that he was such a driving force in my husband's life and honestly made him the man he is today. Grandaddy has always been there for us through our dating years into our married life. He loved us and he loved our kids. I have so many fond memories of him being on the floor playing with each of them and plenty of memories of him holding them. He loved his kids, his grand kids and his great grand kids; and I always knew that about him. He will be greatly missed and it will be tough not having him here with us!

And here is his obituary. Grandaddy was a truly blessed man who was loved very much!

Kiddos Update

Yesterday, all 3 kids had a physical/well check up. CYSS here at Fort Huachuca requires them when you register your children. When I called and scheduled the appointments, there were available appointments back to back so I took it. Not sure if taking all 3 at the same time was a wise decision but we survived it! All 3 had to get one shot each :/ Thankfully, they all took it well. P is all up to date on shots until she is 11. Unfortunately, Henry will have to get all his booster shots for school at his 4 year old check up in February. And Scott received his second dose of Hep A so he is all up to date for awhile as well. Here are their current stats.

Peighton:

weight = 45 pounds (32%)
height= 44 3/4 inches (14%)

Henry:

weight= 40 pounds (90%)
height= 42.5 inches (99%)

Scott:

weight= 28.9 pounds (74%)
heights= 33.5 inches (40%)
head= 19 1/4 inches (67%)

We will be going back in January and February for P's 7 YO check up and Henry's 4 YO. Thankful for healthy, thriving, growing kiddos! One lucky mama here :)

Labor Day Weekend

We spent the unofficial last weekend of summer doing what we have enjoyed most this summer... CAMPING!! :) We traveled about 30 miles up the road to Kartchner Caverns in Benson, AZ. This place was amazing!! Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any pictures inside the cave but take my word for it that it was a very neat experience. I highly recommend checking it out if you are ever in these parts of the country. All the kids enjoyed it! Scott had a rough time not being able to touch anything :/ The weather during the day was very hot but luckily once the sun started setting, it cooled off some and there always seemed to be a breeze. We headed up there on Friday afternoon after school and work. Saturday morning we had our scheduled cave tour. We did lots of exploring around the campsite and at the discovery center. We had lunch on Saturday at the local cafe. It was very yummy! The rhubarb pie was delicious :) Sunday morning we broke down camp and headed back home. The rest of our weekend was nice and quiet and Monday we spent the day off accomplishing errands and enjoying the time together! Now only if the unofficial end of summer meant cooler temperatures, ha! :)

The Tooth Fairy Visits!

Peighton lost her first tooth this week!!!! Cannot believe my little girl is grown up enough to be loosing teeth!! I remember her cutting her baby teeth :( She lost one of her middle bottom teeth on Monday. It had been loose for some time and her permanent tooth is already coming in so the baby tooth needed to go. I think P was happy to have it out because it was bugging her a little bit. The tooth fairy visited her that night and then wouldn't you know it yesterday she lost the other middle bottom tooth. So needless to say, the tooth fairy had a busy week at our house! ;)

Scott Update: 18 months

Wow is this late! He turns 20 months on the 22 of this month :/ Oops, mom fail! Better late than never :) He technically didn't have his 18 month check up till he was 19 months. I may have forgotten to schedule his appointment. And lucky for us the PEDS office was able to get us an appointment before we left town... the actual week to be exact! But never the less, it went well and he is continuing to grow and thrive right on track. Here are some updated stats on the little guy!

Weight: 28 pounds
Height: 33.5 inches
Head: 19 inches

He was in the 75% for his height and weight and between the 50/75% for his head size. Thankfully, Scott did not have to get any shots! It made both him and I happy. We will not have to return to the doctor for a couple of months. We will be back in December for his 2 year check. On a side note, how is it that my last baby turns 2 in a few months!!! Time really is flying these days!! It makes me want to roll him up and stick him in my pocket :)

Here are some other stats on his growth and development!

Size Diaper: 4 (still.. I feel we will be here for awhile.)
Shirt Size: 18-24 months and 24 months some size 2T especially if it was Henry's.
Pant Size: 18 months, 18-24 months and some 24 months.
Shoe Size: 7 (let me tell you his feet are just a growing!)

Sleep pattern: a 2 hour nap after lunch and around 11-12 hours at night

Eating/Drinking: the boy loves to eat and he loves to drink! He typically always has a cup with him and loves to have a snack. He is still a good eater and isn't too picky yet. He recently fell in love with guacamole :)

Words: his vocabulary is growing!! He says about  two dozen words now. He is working on his manners and says please as well as thank you. He loves to say drink and snack, ha!

Behavior: he is getting into the terrible two's mode and definitely has some moments. but for the most part he is still our mild mannered, laid back little boy!

Activities: he loves LOVES to play at a park or the playground. he honestly loves being outside. he is getting into some toys. he likes cars and trucks like his brother. he also is a fan of books like his sister. he still loves to play with things he can push i.e. shopping cart, toy lawn mover and the baby doll stroller.

Long Overdue Update

Well folks we made it!!! Our PCS is complete and it has been a whirlwind these last few weeks!! The last week in Clarksville was a great one! We soaked in lots of time with our good friends and spent lots of time getting the house ready for movers and new tenants. The moving process was a bit of a headache and we got behind schedule on our departure day. However, the nine days of travel went very well considering we were a family of five with a dog. Of course there were some meltdowns along the way and some minor mishaps but we were very lucky with our successful journey! Our stops along the way were a good break and we all slept well in the camper. Our days at the Grand Canyon were amazing. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. The kids did really well and were troopers with all of the walking. We walked several miles every day but the views on the trails were worth it! :)

We arrived in Sierra Vista on Saturday evening. Those two nights in a hotel were very welcomed. I was able to catch up on laundry and reorganize all our stuff. Monday morning we signed for our house and ran errands on Post. Our house on Post is very big and we are thankful to have so much room including 4 bedrooms but its a very old house with not much in the terms of updating. Trying to look on positive side and also remember its less than a year!! Another bonus is the neighborhood park is right behind our house :) We received our household goods on Wednesday which was a daunting process and left me feeling overwhelmed! We worked our tail feathers off most of the day and into the late evening getting everything in its place and organized and beds made.

Peighton started 1st grade on Thursday!! Her school is very nice and is only K-2nd. I was able to walk her to her classroom and meet her teacher and the teacher's aide. P had a good day on Thursday and Friday. Thursday we also had our cable and internet installed. I'll have to admit after not having cable for almost 2 years it is nice to have it again ;) Our new washer and dryer were delivered Friday morning. It was a happy morning!! After two weeks of doing laundry in hotels or at a campground, I was too ecstatic to have my own set right within my house!

The rest of the week and weekend we spent relaxing, organizing, decorating, making trips to the storage unit, making trips to Target, and making the house feel like home!!
