MIA

Feels like I have been away from the blogging world for awhile... Brandon had an opportunity to take some leave time and we decided to go down to SC for a week. We had a good time down there and enjoyed spending time with both family and friends! I miss being home so its always nice to get to have some extended time there. The kids had a great time as well :) Wish we lived just a little bit closer.. hopefully our next duty station will close the gap a bit more than we are now... 600 miles isn't the worse drive but it does make for a long day of driving. Thankfully the kids are now troopers and experts in long range driving, ha! We were back in TN on Tuesday and spent Wednesday catching up around the house and doing some grocery shopping. Brandon went back to work yesterday as did P go back to preschool. Next week starts a new adventure for Brandon (and therefor us!) as he starts day 1 of ten days of Air Assault School on Tuesday. I will be sure to blog about that when its all over and done with :)

Nursery Revealed

Since the gender of the baby is now known, I figured I'd spill the beans on the nursery as well. I still have a few touches to add to it but its just about there. I am really loving this room and all that is in it. Its colorful, cherry and bright! Its going to be perfect for two little boys to grow up in!

This is Henry's side of the room and a close up of his toddler bed. This use to be P's bed and it was white. I am impressed in how well the paint color turned out and it looks adorable with the bedding. Now if we could only get Henry to sleep in it, ha!

These are Henry's initials over his bed. A sweet friend gave me the idea... its the wooden letters with scrapbook paper modge podged over them... the finish looks like they were painted that way. It was super easy and turned out cute! I still need to do the letters over the baby's crib. I think I might use the same paper just in different order. But I like the look and it added some interesting detail to the walls as well as personality.

These are the storage baskets on the bottom shelf of the changing table. I love the bright, playful colors. And all I did to personalize them was to glue on the painted, wooden pictures to the front of the baskets. It turned out very cute :)

I just purchases these curtains today. I have been searching for cherry red curtains all over town. I really wanted red to brighten up that corner as well as add a pop of color to the room. I purchased these at Target for only $16 for both panels. Henry loves this little nook of the room his train table and his collection of cars, trucks & trains are stored here. We also put scooters under the legs of the train table so it can be easily moved in and out of the nook. I look forward to seeing both boys play here :)

This will be baby's side of the room as well as close up of his crib. This is Henry's old furniture set and I love the wood especially for boys. I really love the crib bedding and the way it makes the room look as well as the crib. I'm glad I chose matching bedding for both boys' beds, it makes for an adorable room.

This wall space currently houses Henry's PBK go anywhere chair and his Mega Bloks table. It works well for now but after Christmas it will be the new location for his Little Tikes Workbench and Step 2 Doodle & Art Easel. Luckily, the chair really can go anywhere in the room and might even be moved downstairs. As for the blocks table, the legs fold down and the blocks go inside the tray and it can be stored under his toddler bed or the crib until playtime.

I hope you enjoyed these snippets of the boys' room. I've really enjoyed decorating it and am pleased with the outcome. I need to change out the lamp on the dresser and I'd love to find a new changing pad cover that has a bit more color; and of course, some more wall art would be great. But for now it works and we love it!!

The Verdict Is In...

"B" is for BOY!!!! It's a HE :) Baby Doggette #3 is a boy!!! P and Henry will have a little brother to add to the mix this December!! We are very excited!! He cooperated very well during the ultrasound and we were able to find out the gender within the first few minutes! He is growing healthy and everything looked good on the ultrasound :) I always enjoy those moments!! Technology has come a long way and its such a blessing to get to see baby while still in womb! I can't lie P was a bit disappointed she was going to have another little brother but I think in the end she wins. She will remain our only girl, the princess of the house! As for Henry, I thoroughly believe he will enjoy his little brother and at only 22 months apart, I can see them being best buds! I cannot wait to be a mommy to another sweet little boy!! I feel like our family is going to complete with our latest addition and look forward to seeing how we all get along :) His name will be Francis "Scott" Doggette but he will go by Scott. Of course, Brandon wanted another political name to go along with Henry Clay.. as well as Frances being his maternal grandmother's name and Scott is my father and brother's middle name so both have family significance. And if that wasn't special enough my mother's family is actually linked to Francis Scott Key. So this little boy definitely has a special, unique name to match that of his big brother, Henry Clay :)

boy or girl?!?!

That folks is the million dollar question.. ha! Hopefully though, baby doggette #3 will no longer be an "it" but a "he" or "she" after tomorrow afternoon. My ultrasound is scheduled for 130 in the afternoon. And has this week been dragging! Not only did I have to wait all week for Friday to come, I also have to wait over half the day till my appointment time. Its funny because we already have been blessed with one of each so it seems that this time around I would be less anxious to know but I am a planner and a tad OCD so therefore not knowing the gender of our baby is KILLING me :) I was lucky to find out at 12 weeks when I was pregnant with Henry and having to wait an extra 10 weeks with this one has been torture. I feel like we are at a standstill in our planning and preparing for baby and I cannot wait to buy some baby clothes :) I wish I could say I had an inclination or mother's intuition towards the gender but I am clueless. I think partly the reason behind it is because we do have a boy and a girl so we will truly be happy with either this time around. Although I secretly think Brandon would love another son <3 As for me, I am torn either way. I sometimes get emotional when I think of having another little boy because I have such a sweet relationship with Henry and I can't imagine sharing my heart with another son. But I also don't know if I am just feeling that way because Henry is still my baby (even though at 18 months he is far from the newborn I first held). Plus I also know another boy would fit perfectly into the mix.. being only 22 months apart he and Henry would have a special bond. But my girly side kicks in and I love the idea of also having another little girl. Of course that's what P wants but I think it would be neat for her to have a little sister. I always find that sisterly relationship to be sweet and enduring and comes with a best friend for life. So yeah I really have know idea nor I am leaning towards one or the other.. I will just be happy to know :) So stay tuned...

Half Way There!

Well on Sunday I officially became 20 weeks pregnant! Seems like time is flying and since I never make it to the full 40 week due date, its probably actually less than 20 weeks left :) I am still feeling very good and having no issues or problems. I am so busy with the other two munchkins, taking care of the house, and all the other things I do that sometimes I even forget I am this far along. We have been working hard on the nursery this past weekend and I will have to do a blog soon of some sneak peeks. Its almost done but still a bit of a work in progress. Today I had my 20 week OB check up and the appointment went fine. Baby is measuring a bit ahead and 21 weeks but with the history of the other two that is no surprise :) Its heartbeat was strong at 150 bpm. He or She is doing well and growing so for that I am very thankful! But I am definitely looking forward to next Friday when I finally get to have my ultrasound and find out what baby is!!! I was lucky enough to know at 12 weeks with Henry so its killing me not to know yet! I cannot wait and I'll probably make a B line for the PX afterwards to do some shopping, ha! Honestly though, I feel like we are at a standstill in the purchases for baby until we find out what the gender is. I still am not feeling any inclination towards one or the other.. I really don't know.. I am just ready to find out! Feeling completely blessed :)

Weekend Recap

Well another weekend bites the dust... these two days weekends are hard to get use to, ha! It just seems like they go by way too fast! Ready for Brandon's vacation in a couple of weeks.. no work for almost 2 weeks will be a nice break :) Nonetheless, our weekend was still great! I guess that's the plus side of a normal 2 day weekend its too short to get boring. Friday the kids and I had a good day while Brandon was working. We went to the Commissary bright and early and tackled our grocery shopping. Then we hanged out with our good friend Christina and her little boy Tyler. We all had a good time just hanging out and it helped the day go by fast. By the time we got home from their house, Brandon had gotten off work early and was already at the house. We grilled out steaks for dinner and did our usual nightly routine of a walk around the neighborhood and some outside backyard playing time.

Saturday we already planned on going down to Nashville and do some more exploring. We woke up, had breakfast, and got ready for the day. We headed out and grabbed some lunch at Famous Dave's. Its a BBQ restaurant and it was super yummy! And they had a toy basket in the waiting area filled with puzzles, books, and bead mazes for you to take to your table for the kids to play with. Henry was occupied and we were able to enjoy our meal :) Then we went to The Hermitage which was the home of Andrew Jackson. It was very neat and good thing most of the activities were inside because it was downright hot and humid outside! We were able to tour his home, the gardens/surrounding land, the place where he and his wife are buried as well as the museum. It was a great history lesson for P and she seemed to enjoy it for the most part. After our visit there, we headed back home and both kids were asleep for most of the drive home. That evening we took it easy.. we had a simple supper and did our usual night time business. Brandon and I watched the movie Shutter Island and it was not as scary as I'd thought it would be, more of a mind chaser. All in all, a good Saturday.

Sunday was our lazy day but we still managed to have some fun and be productive. We had a lazy morning then I packed our lunch, got ready and off to the pool we went. It was too hot outside to do much of anything else and the kids love it there. We had a lot of fun and the splash pad area is always a hit with Henry. He just loves walking through all the sprinklers.. he is not afraid of the water! We stayed for a few hours then came home so Henry could nap. Of course, it was quiet time for everyone else. P watched a movie, I ready my book and napped some and Brandon & Murray napped too. After Henry woke up, we got ready to go and headed out to run some errands. We grabbed some yummy dinner at Fazoli's while we were out. Back at the house, I cleaned out my van while Brandon put on some new house numbers we purchased at Lowe's and he mowed the front yard. We then went for our walk and played out front before giving the kids a bath and getting them ready for bed. Throughout the day, I worked on some projects for the nursery (Henry and new baby's room) including organizing the closet. I will do a post this week of some of the things I accomplished. Nevertheless it was nother great weekend for the Doggette's :)
