Weekend Recap

What a fabulous weekend! I heart 4 days! It seems like its been awhile since there was one so this weekend was much needed and appreciated :) Plus, it was the unofficial start to summer and it sure did feel like it! Thursday night we kicked off our weekend with a yummy dinner at a new restaurant in town called Texas Casual Dinning. It was good. I had a pulled pork wrap that was delicious. We then ventured around town and walked a few stores before heading back home and calling it a night.

Friday morning Brandon watched the kiddos for me while I went to a Zumba fitness class with my neighbor. Oh boy was it a workout! It was fun and the teacher was awesome and the class didn't even feel like an hour long. However, I felt the after effects all weekend long... every muscle in my body was sore. The rest of the day we hung out around the house and let the boys take their naps. That evening we went over to the Mitchell's house for a cookout. We all had a good time! The kids had fun playing in their backyard and in their playroom. The food was delicious! I always like a pot luck and get to tasty all sorts of yummy foods. It was a great get together :)

Saturday morning we had planned to hit up the pool on Post that we enjoyed so much last year. I mistakenly thought that it opened at 10 but when we arrived their at 945 and saw the sign said 11 we were bummed. We didn't want to have to travel back home and find something to do for another hour especially since we were already geared up in our bathing suits and such. So we decided to head up to Hopkinsville and go to the Tie Breaker Water Park. They opened at 10 and we arrived their about 1015 and there was quite a crowd. We waited a good thirty minutes in line before it was finally our turn to pay and go in. The place was packed, but luckily we found a spot with two lawn chairs and we had brought the jogging stroller to put Scott in. Brandon took the kids to play in the splash zone area and I found a shady spot near by to sit with the baby. He did really well. He wasn't crazy about the water. In his defense, it was a little chilly. But overall he was content. We broke for lunch and to feed Scott. Then back to play some more until it was time to call it a day and head home. Henry fell asleep on the way home. He was exhausted. He is quite the fish this summer and loved playing in the water. He continued his nap at home and I laid Scott down who took quite a good nap himself. I think the sun all wore us out but we had lots of fun and were pleased to know that Scott could handle that environment well. I am positive we will be back there quite a few times over the summer. Brandon did some yard work that afternoon then we headed out to grab some dinner and rent a movie for our family movie night. We ate at Zaxby's and rented The Smurfs. P stayed up to watch the whole movie but Henry couldn't make it. The water park wore them both out.

Sunday was a quiet day around here. It was quite hot outside!! Brandon washed his car that morning while the kids played outside. He fried up chicken tenders for our lunch. We tend to eat our big meal of the day during lunchtime on the weekends. After lunch was quiet time for this house.. both boys took a nap and P played in her room. That afternoon we did a little roaming in town and then picked up a pizza for dinner. We did our walk around the neighborhood then our typical nightly routine.

Monday morning I woke up and got ready to head to the Greenway Trails with my friend/neighbor Erin. We took Scott with us and he enjoyed being in his stroller. We walked for a good hour then headed back home. It was another uneventful day around the house. I did some tidying up and laundry. Brandon grilled out some hamburgers for lunch. It was all yummy! Henry took his nap, we got ready and headed onto Post to the pool. It was crowded but luckily we found a spot in the shade by the sprinklers. Both P and Henry had a blast. H is becoming quite the little fish. Scott enjoyed himself too. I sat with him by the baby pool and even put his legs in. I am so glad he is a content, go with the flow baby :) We played for almost 2 hours before it was time to leave. We picked up Sonic for dinner on the way home and ate at the house. The kids played out front for awhile before coming inside to get baths and ready for bed.

I am so thankful we had such a great long weekend. We were in desperate need of some good family time and this weekend definitely provided it. Lots of fun was had this weekend :) Glad Brandon has a short work week this week! We have an exciting next week coming up... my aunt and uncle will be visiting us for a few days starting Sunday, Brandon starts his leave next Monday and then were off to SC for a long weekend next Thursday. Looking forward to it all!!! :)

Memorial Day 2012

Happy Memorial Day!!!

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May.[1] Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. (Wikipedia)

For love of country they accepted death...  ~James A. Garfield

And I'm proud to be an American,

And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Happy Mother's Day

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.  ~Tenneva Jordan

It takes some one really brave to be a mother, someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than herself.

Flashback Friday

Summer 2011
I love this picture of Henry. Its hard to believe that was less than a year ago. He has changed so much since then. He has learned to walk & run, got his haircut, gotten taller and thinned out and became a big brother. He has always loved to be outside! He is still the most content, laid back kid :)

Kids Kuddos

I thought I'd share some updates on the kiddos. Time just flies when you have kids! Hope y'all enjoy :)

Peighton

A couple of weekends ago, Brandon helped P learn to ride her bike without training wheels. She caught on quickly and in a couple of days had it down. She loves being able to ride like a big kid. She will just ride up and down the street. So PROUD of her!

Last night, her future elementary school had Kindergarten Roundup. It was neat to get to check out the school, meet the Kindergarten teachers, and get some vital info on next school year. P was a bit nervous but I think she liked being able to tour the different classrooms and was a bit more comfortable with the idea when we left. I'm SO excited for her to start this fall. Her first day will be August 8... just a few months. I know she is ready and will love the new adventure :)

Henry

Love this little man!!! He is definitely all boy and has the scars & bruises to prove it, ha! He loves being outside!! He still has a major obsession with trucks, trains, cars and planes. He was wearing his mama down for a couple of weeks with his 6-630 am wake ups. He was getting up earlier than the baby :/ Thankfully, he is back to his normal wake up between 7-8. I think drinking a full sippy cup of milk before bedtime has helped him.

H got a new bike a couple of weeks ago. Its called a glide and ride balance bike. It basically helps them to learn how to balance and "ride" a bike. It has no pedals so the concept is to use your feet to glide it while keeping it upright. We put him on P's bike a few times and he hasn't quite mastered the concept of pedaling so for now his choices are his trike or his balance bike. I think a real bicycle will be on his Christmas wish list this year.

Scott

My little scooter as I like to call him. This is just a precious picture of him. He is finally learning to nap and most days I can get him to take a solid 2 hour nap. Typically its in the afternoons and the kids & I go outside to play so the house is quiet for him. He really needs the everyday but some days it just doesn't happen. He is no longer being swaddled at night and I think he prefers it that way. He doesn't like being confined and loves being able to move his hands and arms. He is doing complete revolutions of rolling while on the floor now. He will roll from his back to his tummy get up on his tummy then roll back over onto his back. Sometimes his hands get stuck and he's gets very flustered. He seems to prefer to be on the floor more now than being in his bouncer. I think he's decided he likes being able to move and be free.

He is still doing well with eating. Its still a messy process but he is eating most of what I give him. He is onto bananas this week. So far he has tried and liked apples, sweet potatoes and now bananas. The 7 o'clock hour seems to work best right now for feeding him dinner. I think I will introduce breakfast to him in the next few weeks or so. His feeding schedule is so nice and predictable. He is another OCD baby and doesn't stray far from his normalness. He is starting to play with some of his toys. Its just amazing how fast he has developed and grown just in these four months.
