Labor Day Weekend
We spent the unofficial last weekend of summer doing what we have enjoyed most this summer... CAMPING!! :) We traveled about 30 miles up the road to Kartchner Caverns in Benson, AZ. This place was amazing!! Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any pictures inside the cave but take my word for it that it was a very neat experience. I highly recommend checking it out if you are ever in these parts of the country. All the kids enjoyed it! Scott had a rough time not being able to touch anything :/ The weather during the day was very hot but luckily once the sun started setting, it cooled off some and there always seemed to be a breeze. We headed up there on Friday afternoon after school and work. Saturday morning we had our scheduled cave tour. We did lots of exploring around the campsite and at the discovery center. We had lunch on Saturday at the local cafe. It was very yummy! The rhubarb pie was delicious :) Sunday morning we broke down camp and headed back home. The rest of our weekend was nice and quiet and Monday we spent the day off accomplishing errands and enjoying the time together! Now only if the unofficial end of summer meant cooler temperatures, ha! :)

The Tooth Fairy Visits!
Peighton lost her first tooth this week!!!! Cannot believe my little girl is grown up enough to be loosing teeth!! I remember her cutting her baby teeth :( She lost one of her middle bottom teeth on Monday. It had been loose for some time and her permanent tooth is already coming in so the baby tooth needed to go. I think P was happy to have it out because it was bugging her a little bit. The tooth fairy visited her that night and then wouldn't you know it yesterday she lost the other middle bottom tooth. So needless to say, the tooth fairy had a busy week at our house! ;)

Scott Update: 18 months
Wow is this late! He turns 20 months on the 22 of this month :/ Oops, mom fail! Better late than never :) He technically didn't have his 18 month check up till he was 19 months. I may have forgotten to schedule his appointment. And lucky for us the PEDS office was able to get us an appointment before we left town... the actual week to be exact! But never the less, it went well and he is continuing to grow and thrive right on track. Here are some updated stats on the little guy!
Weight: 28 pounds
Height: 33.5 inches
Head: 19 inches
He was in the 75% for his height and weight and between the 50/75% for his head size. Thankfully, Scott did not have to get any shots! It made both him and I happy. We will not have to return to the doctor for a couple of months. We will be back in December for his 2 year check. On a side note, how is it that my last baby turns 2 in a few months!!! Time really is flying these days!! It makes me want to roll him up and stick him in my pocket :)
Here are some other stats on his growth and development!
Size Diaper: 4 (still.. I feel we will be here for awhile.)
Shirt Size: 18-24 months and 24 months some size 2T especially if it was Henry's.
Pant Size: 18 months, 18-24 months and some 24 months.
Shoe Size: 7 (let me tell you his feet are just a growing!)
Sleep pattern: a 2 hour nap after lunch and around 11-12 hours at night
Eating/Drinking: the boy loves to eat and he loves to drink! He typically always has a cup with him and loves to have a snack. He is still a good eater and isn't too picky yet. He recently fell in love with guacamole :)
Words: his vocabulary is growing!! He says about two dozen words now. He is working on his manners and says please as well as thank you. He loves to say drink and snack, ha!
Behavior: he is getting into the terrible two's mode and definitely has some moments. but for the most part he is still our mild mannered, laid back little boy!
Activities: he loves LOVES to play at a park or the playground. he honestly loves being outside. he is getting into some toys. he likes cars and trucks like his brother. he also is a fan of books like his sister. he still loves to play with things he can push i.e. shopping cart, toy lawn mover and the baby doll stroller.

Long Overdue Update
Well folks we made it!!! Our PCS is complete and it has been a whirlwind these last few weeks!! The last week in Clarksville was a great one! We soaked in lots of time with our good friends and spent lots of time getting the house ready for movers and new tenants. The moving process was a bit of a headache and we got behind schedule on our departure day. However, the nine days of travel went very well considering we were a family of five with a dog. Of course there were some meltdowns along the way and some minor mishaps but we were very lucky with our successful journey! Our stops along the way were a good break and we all slept well in the camper. Our days at the Grand Canyon were amazing. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. The kids did really well and were troopers with all of the walking. We walked several miles every day but the views on the trails were worth it! :)
We arrived in Sierra Vista on Saturday evening. Those two nights in a hotel were very welcomed. I was able to catch up on laundry and reorganize all our stuff. Monday morning we signed for our house and ran errands on Post. Our house on Post is very big and we are thankful to have so much room including 4 bedrooms but its a very old house with not much in the terms of updating. Trying to look on positive side and also remember its less than a year!! Another bonus is the neighborhood park is right behind our house :) We received our household goods on Wednesday which was a daunting process and left me feeling overwhelmed! We worked our tail feathers off most of the day and into the late evening getting everything in its place and organized and beds made.
Peighton started 1st grade on Thursday!! Her school is very nice and is only K-2nd. I was able to walk her to her classroom and meet her teacher and the teacher's aide. P had a good day on Thursday and Friday. Thursday we also had our cable and internet installed. I'll have to admit after not having cable for almost 2 years it is nice to have it again ;) Our new washer and dryer were delivered Friday morning. It was a happy morning!! After two weeks of doing laundry in hotels or at a campground, I was too ecstatic to have my own set right within my house!
The rest of the week and weekend we spent relaxing, organizing, decorating, making trips to the storage unit, making trips to Target, and making the house feel like home!!

Upcoming Road Trip
As of today, we have exactly 2 weeks until the packers show up to start loading up the house! Needless to say the next 2 weeks are going to be crazy! The movers will be here that Wednesday & Thursday and our tenants (yes, PTL we have renters who signed a year long lease!!!) move in on that Friday and we head out on the road for our 8 day journey to our next destination. We never do anything simple and driving out to Arizona is no exception. We could do the typical thing and make it out there in a couple of days. But with 3 kids and a dog and two cars (meaning we both have to drive every day all day) it just does not seem reasonable or sane. So we purchased a pop up camper and are going to take our sweet time getting there. Our plan is to stop in every state along the way at a state park and camp out for the night. All the state parks we picked are on a lake so we have water access as well as a playground for the kiddos. I'm excited and think this will definitely be a new adventure! My goal is to keep my Facebook page updated on our journey as much as possible and will update my blog with lots of pictures and details once we get settled in our house at Fort Huachuca. Did I also mention we already have a house waiting on us for when we get there... so grateful that everything is falling into place!! So without further a due here is our itinerary :)
Our day 1 stop is outside of Memphis, TN at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park which is located in Millington, TN.
Day 2 stop is at Lake Fort Smith State Park in Mountainburg, AR.
We will be stopping at Lake Thunderbird State Park in Oklahoma for day 3.
Day 4 finds us at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Amarillo, TX.
For day 5 we will be at Bluewater State Park in Prewitt, NM.
And the best part of the trip we will be spending days 6-8 at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. So excited to spend 3 nights there which gives us 2 full days of sight seeing and exploring.
Days 9-10 we will spend the weekend at a hotel in Sierra Vista, AZ which is where the post is located.
And finally after 10+ night on the road or in a hotel, we sign for our house that Monday morning. And the plus is it has 4 bedrooms so everyone will have their own room to retreat too!

Our Weekend
This past weekend we made our final drive from Clarksville, TN to Summerville, SC. It was a busy, packed, fun filled weekend!! We were so happy to see our P after a month of her being at Mimi & Papa's house.
On Wednesday we drove down and it was a very long day in the car! We got on the road a little later than planned and it rained on us for most of the trip and there always seemed to be traffic especially around a major city. It took us 12 hours to get there and we were all too happy to get out of the car! My dad cooked supper that night and everyone was over to visit. Brandon and I snuck out of the house during bath time to go see a movie. We saw The Lone Ranger and it was great! We just enjoyed the chance to get out by ourselves. We definitely needed it after that drive, ha!
Thursday morning both the boys woke up too early for this mama! Thankfully Papa gets up early too. After we all got ready for the day we ventured in to town and had some lunch and hit up Target. We all had some quiet time during Scott's nap. That afternoon my dad grilled out and we all enjoyed a yummy dinner for the 4th. That night we went downtown Charleston where my brother works to see the fireworks. Papa volunteered to stay home with Scott since the show didn't even start till after 9. The weather was so nice. We got a spot right on the pier next to the water. The breeze was fabulous! It was a long wait till they started but so worth it. Such a pretty fireworks show!! All of us enjoyed it!! It was a fabulous way to end the day.
Friday morning we went over to Granny and Granddaddy's house for a visit and lunch. They took us out to Kelly's BBQ and it was so yummy. We love eating there when we are home and both ate way too much! It was so nice to catch up with them and the kids enjoyed getting to play with them. That afternoon while Scott napped and Brandon & Henry stayed home; my aunt, P and I did some shopping. We hit up a few local stores in downtown Summerville and found some unique antique stores. That evening my parents and aunt baby sat the kiddos for us so we could have a date night. We went downtown with our amazing, dear friends. They are our oldest friends and we love getting to see them whenever we get the chance. I love that no matter how long its been since we've seen each other we can always pick up where we left off. We all enjoyed dinner at an amazing local restaurant, did some walking around and some yummy dessert as well. It was a very nice night!
On Saturday, Brandon & Papa stayed home with the boys while us girls went shopping! It was such a fun day! We had lunch at Atlanta Bread then headed to the Outlets. It was crowded but there was so many good sales!! We stayed there for hours and shopped till we dropped. We scored a lot of great deals. That night my whole family went out to dinner at a local pizza place. It was a great way to end our long visit in SC.
Sunday morning we woke up very early (445 our time) and headed back to TN. Traffic was rough in some places but we gain an hour heading back and made it home around 430 local time. Brandon and I worked on getting as much done as possible. He unloaded the car, cleaned out the car, mowed the front yard and kept an eye on the kids playing outside while I got everything unpacked, put away, organized, sorted and started a load of laundry. When we both got to a stopping position, we went and ate dinner a local Mexican restaurant. We were all so tired that night. Everyone got a bath or a shower and the kids were asleep in no time.
So thankful for this opportunity to visit home!!! It was much needed and we enjoyed every moment of it! Now we are just counting down the days left in Clarksville till we start our journey westward :)
