Scott turned 15 months!

Holy cow is time going by fast! This second year of Scott's life seems to be going faster than his first year. I can now say we have a walker on our hands :) He finally figured it out and has been walking for over a week now. He will still crawl from time to time as I think he finds it easier than walking especially if he is trying to get some where in a hurry. He looks like such a big boy now! He is also started babbling a whole lot more and trying to talk. Its so cute! He is still my best eater and continues to love all foods! He is cutting some more teeth. It seems his incisors are coming it .. all 4 of them which doesn't always make for a happy baby :/ He is still sleeping 12 hours at night and taking about a 2 hour nap after lunch. We are ready for spring weather to stick around because he loves to be outside as much as his brother. He loves playing in his Little Tikes Cozy Coupe and trying to ride the big wheels bike. I can't wait to see him this summer at the pool, splash pad and water park. He loves bath time and is like a little fish in the tub. He is wearing size 4 diapers, 18/24 months pants and tops. He wears a size 4.5 shoes. He had his check up on the 25th of March and he weighs 26.4 pounds and is up to 31 inches in length. Always thankful to have such a thriving, healthy, little boy!!

An Update

Wow, it has been over 2 months since I last posted on this blog and it hasn't been because nothing has been going on... because quite the opposite has been true. Life around this house has been crazy! It seems like we just hit the ground running after Christmas vacation and the end is no where near insight. I mean we will be celebrating Easter in less than 2 weeks and I still never blogged about Christmas. Ha! So here is a list (in no particular order) of all the things this family of 5 has endured in the past few months:

  • The kids and I headed to Gatlinburg, TN for a weekend trip with our good friends while Brandon went on a boys' camping trip in Pisgah, NC. We both had an awesome weekend!
  • We celebrated jointly P and Henry's birthday by having one big bash at the Bowling Alley on Post. It was a hit and all the kiddos had a great time!
  • We now have a sixth member of the family in terms of a new pet. Gizmo is a chocolate lab and is about 18 months old. She has been a good addition to the mix and is fairly well behaved for a puppy.
  • Did I mention P turned 6 and Henry turned 3?!?! When did this happen?!? How did they get so old... my babies are growing up on me.
  • We put our house on the market. Its officially for sale! We will be PCSing to Fort Huachucha, AZ around the end of July. After almost 4 years here, we are ready for something new. We gave the house a deadline of June 1 if after that we haven't had any viable offers, we will transition into the rental mode and try to find a renter for our house. This is a stressful journey for us! We love our house so much and have done a lot to it. We just hope a family will come along and like it as much as we do and put in an offer. This process just stinks because we have no control over the situation... we just have to stay positive and have a little faith.
  • Since our house is on the market, Brandon and I have been working hard on getting the house in tip top shape. We still have a few projects left on our list. We are trying our best to make our house look like we are ready to leave it :)
  • A few weekends ago, the kids & I visited the Nashville Zoo with good friends while Brandon stayed home and painted the entire downstairs. The weather was great and all the kids had fun. We ended the day with dinner at Chick Fil A.
  • Scott is finally taking steps!!! He isn't quite a full fledged walker but he is walking and taking at least 10 steps at a time. He is so proud of himself... we are liking this new phase. Except for he keeps me on my toes now more than ever :)
  • Spring Break is next week and we are headed down to SC for the week! Cannot wait to get there and have lots of fun with our family & friends!!

So there you go just a little update on what the Doggettes have been up to lately. Hopefully I will get better about posting more regularly!

Our Disney Trip in Pictures

We had an amazing vacation at Disney World. I love that place and this year it did not disappoint! The Wilderness Lodge was a great place to stay at and everything was decorated so pretty for the holidays. The weather was gorgeous most of the days we were there and the kids even got to play in the pool for a couple of times. We had a lot of fun, ate some really good food and made lots of memories. It was the perfect way to kick off of the Christmas holiday.

Scott turned 1!!

Cannot believe my baby boy is now one years old :) How did an entire year go by so fast?!?! I cannot imagine our lives or family without him. He is the perfect compliment to our family. Scott just goes with the flow but has his moments of letting us know he's in charge and wants our attention. I have loved seeing his personality come out in the past few months and really has become his own person. We celebrated his birthday while we were at Disney World on vacation. We picked him up a few presents while we were there to commemorate his big day. Then the following day we had a small, family birthday party for him at my parents' house. Scott loved the cake and had no qualms diving in it and eating it all up. He was gifted lots of good gifts and enjoyed playing with them and all our family & friends. Today I took him to his 12 month well check up and he is growing & thriving well. He is up to a whopping 24.8 pounds. Scott is continuing to follow his same growth curve. He had to get his finger pricked for an iron count and he was not a fan of that nor the four shots he had to get. Thankfully, he is a champ and perked up right after the appointment was done. So blessed to have another healthy, happy little boy!!

2 More Wake ups & Its Go Time

We are in the final stretch till our Disney vacation begins. Well actually we are only 2 days away until two weeks of vacation begins, ha! We get to spend one week in FL and then the week of Christmas in SC. This family is so excited and so ready!! We are in need of some r&r time. Life has been crazy lately and we are ready for some relaxing, sunny, magical days. Though we know will be at Disney World at one of the busiest, craziest times of the year (especially the last few days of our trip), we are still trying to make an effort to keep this trip low key and as unscheduled as possible. We want to have fun and enjoy as much of Disney as is possible but we also want to keep the stress out of the vacation and that requires keeping expectations low. The simple goal of the this trip is to have as much fun as possible and make lots of memories. We have even changed up our itinerary a little to try and minimize the stress and agony that can come with Disney vacation with 3 kiddos under 6. I heart vacations especially at Disney World. I look forward to next week where I truly will get a vacation myself. I will have no beds to make, no laundry to do, no meals to cook or clean up after, no housework. My only tasks next week as a mom is to give the kids baths, get them dressed everyday, wash up bottles & sippy cups and make sure my kiddos have the best time! I think I am up to the challenge ;)

Friday Favorites

Disney Edition:
Our Favorite Restaurants

Since our family vacation to Disney World is just a mere few weeks away, I thought I'd share some our favorite spots to eat while at Disney World. Some of them are a hands down must do if you have little ones and some are just plain good places to eat. While cost is not a factor in my reviews or opinions because we have never been to Disney World not on a dinning plan. We feel this works best for us. Our entire trip including food is paid for before we even check in and although we include additional funds in our Disney budget for more snacks or an extra meal here and there, the dinning plan just makes our life and the vacation easier. And don't forget to make your reservations ahead of time, most of the restaurants book fast and waiting for over an hour for a good place to eat is not my idea of a vacation.

Character meals are a favorite for us because it is a double duty stop. We get to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the park, eat some yummy food, and meet some favorite Disney characters. Our two favorites for these in Magic Kingdom are The Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table. We love Hollywood & Vine with Disney Jr. Pals at Hollywood Studios. Another favorite is Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at Epcot.

The past few trips to Disney World, we have given ourselves two days in Magic Kingdom. This has the most fun for all of us and the kids can ride just about everything. Thus, we have eaten a dozen times there over the past several trips. Liberty Tree Tavern is a new favorite. It has yummy food and we will be eating there again. We have been to Tony's Town Square several times and it does not disappoint. They have a great Italian menu.

Two favorites at Hollywood Studios is Mama's Melrose Ristorante Italiano and the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Both have great food in an awesome atmosphere. The Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom is great, quiet place for some tasty Asian cuisine. We always dine there on our Animal Kingdom day.

All the hotels especially the moderate & deluxe resorts have amazing restaurants as well. We typically always dine at our hotel's main restaurant during our stay. We have also done Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort and Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner at 1900 Park Fare which is at the Grand Floridian Resort.

The food is one of my favorites at Disney World and part of the perks of being on vacation. We get to enjoy yummy meals and snacks all day long. And this mama does not have to cook the meal or clean up afterwards is a huge plus especially when on vacation :)
